Jiande man

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jiande man ( Chinese  建德 人 , Pinyin Jiàndérén , English Jiangde Man ) is a palaeolithic fossil named after the district of Jiande in the province of Zhejiang . The Jiande man lived in Zhejiang about 50,000 years ago and was excavated in 1974 by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Zhejiang Museum .

The fossil was assigned to Homo sapiens by its Chinese workers ; If the dating were correct, however, this assignment would contradict the genetic analyzes known today on the spread of humans , on the basis of which they would have to be assigned to Homo erectus .
