Jiaocheng ( Chinese  蕉城区 , Pinyin Jiāochéng Qū ) is a municipality in the prefecture-level city of Ningde in the Chinese province of Fujian . Jiaocheng is the city center and the seat of the Ningde municipal government. The municipality is located on the Taiwan Strait , north of the administrative area of Fuzhou City . Jiaocheng has an area of ​​1,537.2 km² and a population of 417,500 (end of 2003, only residents with main residence).

Jiaocheng had a gross domestic product of 2.4 billion yuan in 2002 . The GDP per capita was 10,192 renminbi, around the average for Fujian Province .

On September 1, 2005 , the city district was hit by tidal waves around 10 m high from Typhoon Talim .

Administrative structure

At the community level, Jiaocheng is made up of two street districts, ten large communities , three communities and one nationality community. These are:

  • Road quarter Jiaobei (蕉北街道);
  • Greater community Chengnan (城南镇);
  • Greater community Zhangwan (漳湾镇);
  • Greater community Qidu (七都镇);

  • Chixi Municipality (赤 溪镇);
  • Greater community Yangzhong (洋中镇);

  • Hongkou Township (洪 口 乡);
  • Community Shihou (石后乡);
  • Hubei Township (虎 贝 乡);
  • Community Jinhan of She (金涵畲族乡).
