Yiddish Studies

Yiddish Studies is the science that deals with the Yiddish language and literature . The center of Yiddish studies is the Yidisher visnshaftlekher institut YIVO , which was initially founded in Vilnius in 1925 and which was located in New York City after the Second World War .

Yiddish Studies is a subject in Germany and is taught at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and the University of Trier . Teaching and research activities also take place at other universities, even if Yiddish studies is not established as a subject there (e.g. Georg-August-Universität Göttingen ).
