Jim Tunney

Jim Tunney (born December 25, 1923 - January 17, 2002 ) was an Irish politician.

Tunney was elected to the Dáil Éireann in 1969 for the Fianna Fáil . He was a member of the House of Commons until 1992. During his time as a member of parliament, he was parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Education in the 19th and 21st Dáil. From January 1, 1978 to June 30, 1981 Tunney held the office of Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and then finally resigned from this post to become Vice Chairman of the House of Commons ( Leas-Cheann Comhairle ). He held the office from July 7, 1981 to January 27, 1982, from March 23, 1982 to November 4, 1982, then again from March 24, 1987 to May 25, 1989 and in the 26th Dáil on July 18 1989 to November 24, 1992.

From 1985 to 1986 he held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin ).
