Jimmy Thackery (born May 19, 1953 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American blues singer, guitarist and composer. Stylistically he can be assigned to the electric blues and blues rock .

With his hard, straightforward guitar playing and his direct, undisguised demeanor at stage shows, he gained a fan base among fans of straightforward blues as well as fans of roots rock . From the early 1970s to the late 1980s, Jimmy Thackery was a band member and lead guitarist with The Nighthawks , a blues band from Washington, DC He made a good dozen albums with the Nighthawks before embarking on a solo career in the late 1980s . In the course of this career he first formed the band "Jimmy Thackery & the Assassins", then from 1991 the trio "Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers".
