Tab Benoit (2008)

Tab Benoit (born November 17, 1967 in Baton Rouge , Louisiana ) is an American blues guitarist, singer and composer. His style is a combination of swamp blues , soul blues and Chicago blues .

The music of the native Cajun is shaped by his cultural roots, the Cajun music , as well as by the classic blues and rock musicians Albert King , Albert Collins and Jimi Hendrix . In the course of his career there were numerous collaborations with other musicians, including Charlie Musselwhite and Jimmy Thackery . In 2004, Tab Benoit and other artists (including Dr. John ) founded the Voice of the Wetlands , a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the wetlands , the wetlands of southern Louisiana. The “swamps” of the deep south and the cultural peculiarities of the region are increasingly threatened by the exploitation of the abundant oil deposits.
