Jintara Poonlarp or Poonlab ( Thai จินต หรา พูน ลาภ , pronunciation: [ ʨintàrǎː pʰuːnlâːp ], RTGS transcription Chintara Phunlap ; * March 6, 1969 in Moo Baan Chantun, Kaset Wisai District, Roi Et Province , Thailand ) is a Mor-Lam - and Luk Thung singer in Thailand. Her maiden name was Tongbai Janlueang, but she changed it to Tongbai Poonlarp when her parents registered their marriage. Jintara is her stage name. She is also known by her nicknames Jin or Sao Sieng Pin (Thai สาว เสียง พิณ ). The second name means girl with the voice of an Isan guitar ( Phin ) . By May 2005 she published 36 albums of her own as well as many compilations. She took in about the same amount of Mor Lam and Luk Thung . She recorded two of her best known hits, Ma Tammai and Faen Ja , with Bird Thongchai McIntyre .

Career

Jintara was born in 1969 in Moo Baan Chanthun Village, Kaset Wisai District , Roi Et Province, Isan Region , Thailand. Even as a child she loved to sing. The other villagers praised her voice and encouraged her to become a singer.

When she was 15 she joined the Mek Khala theater group in her home province of Roi Et. Some time later she took part in the singing competition on the occasion of the annual silk festival in Khon Kaen . A DJ recognized her talent and made the connection to Grammy Music .

She is on the road with her live show every year from September to May and has already performed in Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Hong Kong, Canada and Singapore. Jintara has a rough and shrill voice. Their music has strong pop influences and is mainly played with western instruments. In most of the videos, Jintara and her dancers wear modern western clothing.

One of her most famous songs is Sao Isaan Plat Tin ("Isan Girls Poor And Far From Home", Album 9). It is a song about the typical themes of poverty, homesickness and an unfaithful lover. In 2003, ethics officials from the Thai Ministry of Culture planned to ban their song Tears to the Wife of a Lieutenant (Namta Mia Nairoi) in the state media.

She had her first role as an actress in 2001 in the television series Nai Hoy Tamin . This was a Luk Thung series depicting the life of the Isan people in earlier times.

At the MTV Asia Award on February 14, 2004 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium , she appeared as an accompanist for Bird Thongchai McIntyre.
