Jitse Groen (* 1978 ) is a Dutch entrepreneur and the founder of Takeaway . He is the current CEO of Takeaway.com and has also been CEO of Just Eat since 2020 following the merger with Takeaway.com.

Life

Groen founded Takeaway.com (originally known as Thuisbezorgd.nl) in 2000, at the age of 21. At that time he was studying business informatics at the University of Twente . The idea came to him after he was unable to get a takeaway delivery in North Holland for a birthday party with his family. Groen listed Takeaway.com on the Euronext Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 2016 to fund the expansion of Takeaway.com in Germany and other European countries. In 2018, Groen decided to increase the commission for using the platform from 12 to 13%. In the same year Groen took over Takeaway.com's main competitor in Germany, Delivery Hero . When Takeaway.com merged with UK company Just Eat in 2020, Groen became Managing Director of the merged organization. Groen also owns 11.3 percent of the merged company; previously owned 35 percent of Takeaway.com. In 2017, Groen was listed by Quote magazine as the richest self-made millionaire under 40 in the Netherlands. He became a billionaire in 2018 as the value of his Takeaway.com shares surged over $ 1 billion.
