João Negreiros

João Maria Henriques Negreiros (born November 23, 1976 in Matosinhos , Porto District , Portugal ) is an innovative Portuguese poet and playwright. The highest honor of the award-winning poet is the Prémio Nuno Júdice, which is awarded to young talents.

Life

João Negreiros has been interested in poetry and theater since childhood. He published his first volume of poetry at the age of 16. The poet also wrote a program called Sentido de Amor , which has already been broadcast on more than 20 radio stations in Portugal. He also has a strong presence on the Internet: He records videos on which his poems were spoken and invented SpokenSongs in Portugal, where he sometimes sings and speaks texts of his own and others in English. He is also the artistic director of the Teatro de Universidade Minho (TUM) .

João Negreiros is one of the few celebrities in Portugal who has multiple sclerosis . He dealt with his illness in a nationally known poem, works for the Portuguese Multiple Sclerosis Society and was therefore seen more often on Portuguese television. The volume of poetry "O acaso e um milagre" was also discussed on a broadcast by the former literary critic and incumbent President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa . "O Manual da Felicidade" (Instructions for Happiness) is a program of sung works by Negreiros that he performed singing in various cities.

The poet lives in Vila Nova de Famalicão .
