Jo Vargas is the pseudonym of the French painter Joëlle Audoin-Rouzeau (born June 7, 1957 in Paris ).

The pseudonym originated from the abbreviation of her first name and the character "Maria Vargas" ( Ava Gardner in the film "The Barefoot Countess").

Jo Vargas is the daughter of the cultural journalist and surrealist Philippe Audoin , twin sister of the crime writer Frédérique Audoin-Rouzeau (who took the pseudonym surname and published as Fred Vargas ), and sister of the historian Stéphane Audoin-Rouzeau , co-director of the Historial de la Grande Guerre in Péronne ( Somme department ).
