Joachim Heiden

Joachim Heiden (born February 3, 1955 in Duisburg ) is a German classical archaeologist .

After graduating from high school at Aloisiuskolleg in Bad Godesberg, Joachim Heiden studied classical archeology at the Free University of Berlin in 1974 , where he received his master's degree in 1982 and his doctorate in 1985 . In 1986/86 he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . From 1987 to 1992 he was a research assistant at the German excavation in Olympia . From 1994 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the Realkatalog at the Rome Department of the German Archaeological Institute . From 1999 to 2007 he worked for the real catalog at the headquarters of the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin . Since 2007 he has been a research assistant at the Athens Department of the German Archaeological Institute , initially as head of the photo library , and since 2009 as head of the archive. Since 2014 he has been the head of the excavations in the Heraion of Samos .
