Joachim Schmidt (politician, 1936)
Joachim Schmidt (born October 26, 1936 in Zwickau ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Bundestag.
Life
Schmidt graduated from high school in Auerbach / Vogtl in 1955 . Until 1956 he gained practical experience in surface and underground mining, then he studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg until 1961, specializing in mineral processing. From 1961 to 1967 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Processing of the Bergakademie Freiberg and from 1968 to 1990 he devoted himself to research in industry and at the Research Institute for Non-Ferrous Metals Freiberg (FNE). He became an honorary senator of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and a member of the board of trustees of the working group of industrial research associations "Otto von Guericke" e. V. (AiF) appointed.

Until 1989 he was non-party involved in politics, then until 1990 he was a member of the Freiberg / Saxony citizens' movement. Schmidt had been a member of the CDU since June 1990 and was a member of the Presidium of the Saxon Union. In 1990 he was elected to the Bundestag for the CDU, and from 1992 to 1999 he was also chairman of the CDU regional group in Saxony. He was the rapporteur for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group on East German research. Schmidt left the Bundestag at the end of the fourteenth legislative period.
