Siwert came to the court of the Brandenburg Elector Georg Wilhelm as an apprentice or journeyman of the court painter Martin Schulz (active there since 1607, † 1630). After the death of his teacher, Siwert was the journeyman of his widow. In 1632 he made a request to the elector to fill the vacant position as court painter with him. According to the appointment document , he was employed in Cüstrin on June 15, 1632 and was given complete clothing every year, which was made and delivered by the court tailor. This payment also received the wood and ivory carver Georg Waker, who was also employed by the elector at the time. It was part of Siwert's duties to accompany the elector on his travels or on hunting trips. In addition to the production of portraits, his work also included copying . Paintings by Prince Elector Johann Sigismund , Georg Wilhelm or King Gustav Adolf and Queen Maria Eleonora of Sweden are attributed to him.
