Joachim Szidat

Joachim Szidat (born August 29, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German ancient historian and high school teacher .

From 1957 to 1962 Szidat studied Latin, Greek and history at the Free University of Berlin and passed the 1st state examination in 1962 . From 1963 to 1965 he continued to study Greek at the University of Frankfurt . In 1968 he received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin. From 1965 to 1999 he was a high school professor at the Solothurn Cantonal School . In 1976 he completed his habilitation at the University of Bern , where he taught until 2003. In 1992, he was appointed titular professor for ancient history.
