Joachim Trebbe

Joachim Trebbe (* 1965 in Meppen ) is a German communication scientist who, among other things, deals with media analysis .

Life

In 1984 Trebbe began studying social and economic sciences at the University of Göttingen , which he completed in 1990. He then worked at the Göttingen Institute for Applied Communication Research GöfaK as head of studies and had teaching assignments at the communication science institutes of the Universities of Göttingen and Leipzig until he got a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at the Free University of Berlin in 1994 . In 1996 Trebbe received his PhD at the Free University of Berlin with a dissertation on journalistic diversity in local communication spaces. phil. PhD . In 1999 he was a professor at the Institute for Journalism at the University of Göttingen and was promoted to research assistant at the FU .

In 2003 he moved to the University of Friborg (Switzerland) , where he was associate professor until 2009 and full professor for media and communication studies from 2010.

In 2008 Trebbe completed his habilitation in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the Free University of Berlin with a thesis on the subject of “Ethnic minorities, mass media and integration”.

Since August 2011 he has been Professor of Journalism and Communication Studies there.
