Joachim Weist was a German SA functionary, most recently with the rank of SA brigade leader .

Weist joined the NSDAP and its street combat unit, the Sturmabteilung (SA) , around 1930 . In this he reached the rank of brigade leader on April 20, 1936.

On the night of November 9-10, 1938, Weist, together with SS -Standartenführer Walter Gunst and Gestapo chief Walter Traub, led the riots by Freiburg's SA and SS units against the city's Jewish population during the Reichspogromnacht . Among other things, the two led the command that set the Freiburg synagogue on fire.

After the Second World War, Weist and Traub remained unaffected. Gunst was transferred to the Eastern Front because of his affairs and has been missing there since 1943.
