Heiko Haumann

Heiko Haumann (born February 9, 1945 in Attendorn ) is a German historian and professor emeritus.

Heiko Haumann studied history, political science, sociology and education at the Universities of Marburg and Frankfurt am Main . In 1969 he graduated with the state examination, in 1971 he received his doctorate. After working at the University of Marburg and at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , he completed his habilitation in 1977. From 1991 to 2010 he was Professor of Eastern European and Modern General History at the Department of History at the University of Basel .

In historical studies, Haumann methodically represents a lifeworld-oriented microhistorical approach, which puts people or the perspective of historical actors at the center of consideration, in order to also gain knowledge on the structural level from there. He wrote u. a. a history of Russia . His research on Judaism in Eastern Europe led to the creation of the book Geschichte der Ostjuden . The focus of the work is the everyday life of Eastern Jews as well as their political and religious positions. Among Haumann's most important students are Carmen Scheide , Monica Rüthers , Jörn Happel and Ralph Tuchtenhagen . Haumann was a "permanent employee" of the magazine Das Argument in the 1980s .

Haumann has lived in Yach since 1983 , where he a. a. Is a member of the Heimat- und Landschaftspflegeverein.
