The BVMI - Berufsverband Medizinischer Informatiker eV based in Heidelberg was founded in 1983. The registered association has over 600 full, associated, student and sponsoring members as well as honorary members. Members are persons who have been appropriately trained or who are permanently active in the field of medical informatics (medical informatics).

  • To be the point of contact for professional policy issues for those working in the field of medical informatics.
  • Preserve, promote and represent the professional interests of medical IT specialists.
  • Promote advanced training in medical informatics, with special attention to the medical informatics certificate .
  • Support members in fulfilling their tasks.

activities

The purpose of the professional association is to deal with all professional policy issues in the field of medical informatics (medical informatics) and to protect, promote and represent the common and professional interests of medical informatics. In the course of time, state representations have been set up to carry out the association tasks in the regional catchment area - v. a. also through local information and training events.

In addition, professional training in medical IT is promoted and the members are supported in fulfilling their tasks. Particular attention is paid to the promotion and further training to obtain the certificate "Medical Computer Scientist".

A broad spectrum of activities serves this purpose:

  • BVMI's own working and specialist conferences on innovative topics.
  • Publication of the association journal "Forum der Medizin_Dokumentation und Medizin_Informatik" (mdi) in cooperation with the German Association of Medical Documentaries - DVMD.
  • Organization of events as part of trade fairs B. MEDICA, INTERFAB, INTERHOSPITAL, SYSTEMS.
  • Cooperation with scientific societies, medical organizations and other professional associations such as B. German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology eV - gmds, Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies - AWMF.
  • Providing an information and discussion platform.
  • Act lobbyist.
