Job family

Job families are places clusters that are formed on the principle of similarity and can support HR processes, such as (strategic) human resource planning or personnel marketing . In this respect, they are not an independent HR management concept, but an organizational tool that is comparable to other clusters in the company, for example product groups in purchasing or part families in production.

Areas of application

Job families can support personnel management in companies with both internal and external tasks.

  • Externally: Recruitment processes, such as personnel recruitment and marketing
  • Inside: Personnel planning processes, such as strategic personnel planning, qualification planning, personnel development planning, career or career planning, competence management

Formation of job families

Job families take jobs, i. H. Put together with the same or very similar requirement profiles, for example: designers, field staff, buyers or work planners. The basis is requirement profiles that describe the professional and general requirements of the positions, independent of the person. For example job descriptions , function diagrams or qualification matrices can be used for this.
