Johan Daisne
Johan Daisne , pen name of Herman Thiery , ( September 2, 1912 in Ghent - August 9, 1978 ) was a Flemish writer.
Life
Born in Ghent , Belgium , he attended Koninklijk Atheneum before studying economics and Slavic languages at Ghent University. He completed this in 1936. In 1945 he was appointed Ghent City Librarian .
He is considered by many to be the founder of so-called magical realism in Flemish literature .
In numerous writings, scripts and radio plays, Daisne tries to show the typical misconception that the world can in principle be explored. For him, such positivistic illusions remove people further and further from their originally irrational and mythical understanding of the world.
