Johann Andreas Orre

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Andreas Orre († after 1751 ) was a Baltic German organ builder who worked in Mecklenburg .

Life

Johann Andreas Orre came from Livonia (in today's Latvia). Since its construction shows clear influences of the Königsberg organ building tradition, it was probably trained by Gabriel Julius Mosengel from there in Goldingen in Kurland .

From 1738 to 1740 Orre built a larger organ with 20 registers for the Serrahn village church in Mecklenburg , as a church book entry attests. He probably came to Serrahn through family ties of the church patron Erhard von Hahn auf Kuchelmiß with the Baltic States or through the mediation of pastor Heinrich Schröder, who came from Königsberg. The magnificent baroque prospectus with figures has been preserved, as have the pedal whistles and the wind chests. Other organs by Orre are not known.

Johann Andreas Orre was married to Ida Margaretha Eleonora, born October 15, 1751 in Güstrow . Paetowen. Carpenter was listed as his profession .

The Livonian composer and organist Adam Ore may have been a descendant.
