Johann Brunner (marksman)

Johann Brunner (* 20th century) is a former German marksman in disabled sports .

Career

Brunner is severely disabled. Since he still wanted to do competitive sports, he chose shooting as a wheelchair user according to his capabilities. His performance was soon so good that he was accepted into the German national team for disabled people. With this team he took part in the 1992 Paralympic Summer Games in Barcelona , where he won four Olympic medals in various shooting disciplines. First he won a silver medal in shooting with the air rifle (Air Rifle) in his SH 2 group of disabled people. Then followed a gold medal for 3 × 40 shots with the air rifle. He also won a silver medal in the Mixed Olympic Match. Finally, he won a silver medal in the Mixed SB Free Rifle over 3 × 40 shots in the performance class 1-2.

For winning a medal at the 1992 Summer Paralympics , Brunner was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker in 1993.
