Johann Carl Rahsskopff

Johann Carl Rahsskopff (born August 18, 1806 in Molsheim / Pfalz, † December 20, 1886 in Koblenz ) was a German watchmaker and mechanic.

Life

Johann Carl Rahsskopff dealt with the construction of extraordinary tower, wall and table clocks with heliocoidal toothing ( worm toothing ). His name stands for the construction of a special tower clock escapement in a modification of the well-known escapement by Brocot. In 1849 a manometer was patented. An exhibition of his products took place at regional trade shows in 1844, 1852 and 1854.

In 1855 he took part in the World Exhibition in Paris . Rahsskopff delivered clocks built by him to Stolzenfels Castle near Koblenz for the Prussian King. Because of his achievements he was appointed "Royal Court watchmaker and mechanic" in Coblenz (Koblenz).
