Johann Christoph Karl Gayer

Johann Christoph Karl Gayer , also Kryštof Karel (* around 1668 , † November 16, 1734 in Prague ) was a Bohemian conductor and composer .

Life

Gayer came to Prague as a choirboy and studied law . He took part in performances at Prague Cathedral from 1690 at the latest . On October 6, 1705 he became cathedral music director. There he modernized the repertoire with newer Italian compositions as well as his own. He also reformed the band by firing some musicians and buying new instruments.

His works were regularly performed until around 1760.
