Johann Endl

Johann Endl (born February 4, 1897 in Langenlois ; † February 17, 1960 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Endl was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and its third president from 1945 to 1960.

Life

After Endl had become an orphan at the age of 14, he completed an apprenticeship in the hospitality industry. He did his military service during the First World War from 1915 to 1918 and then worked abroad for some time. After Endl got involved in winter sports at an early age, he moved to Semmering in 1919 and joined the union. Endl worked as a waiter and was Deputy Mayor in Semmering from 1934 to 1938. He also represented the state of trade representatives from July 6, 1937 to March 12, 1938 in the state parliament of Lower Austria. After the National Socialists came to power, Endl was arrested in 1939 and imprisoned for nine months. After his release he worked in Vienna and was obliged to do military service between 1941 and 1943.

After the end of the Second World War, Endl took part in the development of the ÖAAB and from 1954 to 1959 was Chamber Councilor of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Lower Austria. He campaigned for the establishment of the catering trade school in Waldegg and represented the ÖVP from December 12, 1945 to February 17, 1960 in the Lower Austrian state parliament. During this time, Endl also held the office of Third President of the State Parliament.
