Johann Friedrich Peter ( John Frederick Peter ) (born May 19, 1746 in Heerendijk , † July 13, 1813 in Bethlehem ) was an American composer.

life and work

Peter emigrated to North America in 1770, where he worked as an organist for the Bohemian Brethren in North Carolina and Pennsylvania .

He composed more than eighty anthems for choir and six string quintets, which are among the oldest chamber music works in North America.
