Johann Jakob Stamm (building contractor)

Johann Jakob Stamm (born September 6, 1843 in Thayngen ; † January 27, 1905 in Basel , reformed , resident in Thayngen) was a Swiss building contractor.

Life

Johann Jakob Stamm, illegitimate son of a surveyor, did an apprenticeship as a bricklayer in Basel with his future father-in-law Johann Georg Meyer. After his death in 1865 he took over the construction business and continuously expanded it into one of the leading construction companies in Basel. In 1897 he handed over management of the company to his sons Georg (1866–1950), Rudolf (1869–1944) and Jakob (1879–1956), who continued the company as Gebrüder Stamm construction business.
