Johann Peter Weise

Johann Peter Weise , also Weisse, was a German organ builder who had his workshop in Kirchhasel near Rudolstadt in the middle of the 18th century .

life and work

Weise was known to Johann Sebastian Bach , who played several of his organs, and was related to the court and town musician Weise in Arnstadt . He recently relocated his organ builder workshop to Merseburg .

So far, the following commissioned works can be verified by the organ builder:

1759 Merseburg St. Maximi At 74 thalers, he was far below the bid of the local organ builder Heinrich Andreas Contius . The monastery superintendent Schmidt therefore wanted to give the order to Weise, but the Merseburg Consistory recommended the university organ builder Johann Gottlieb Mauer from Leipzig, who is better known in Saxony .
