Johann Pölz

Johann Pölz (born October 16, 1920 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs , † February 7, 1978 in Amstetten ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and foreman. From 1959 to 1978 he was a member of the National Council .

After compulsory school, Pölz attended a trade school and learned to be a carpenter. He continued his education at the social academy and worked professionally as a foreman. He was also politically active as the district chairman of the SPÖ in Amstetten and was mayor of this community from 1965. Pölz represented the SPÖ in the National Council between June 9, 1959 and February 6, 1978. After his early death, Pölz succeeded Rudolf Fertl in the National Council. The "Johann-Pölz-Halle" was named in honor of Pölz in Amstetten.
