Johanna Bundi Ryser

Johanna Bundi Ryser (* 1963) from Sumvitg in the canton of Graubünden is a Swiss police officer and president of the Association of Swiss Police Officers (VSPB). She is the first woman in this position and represents the interests of over 26,000 police officers in Switzerland.

Origin and career

Bundi Ryser grew up as one of seven children in Sumvitg. After an apprenticeship as a nurse, she graduated from the police school and worked as a police officer in Graubünden. In 2006, Bundi Ryser became a member of the management of the VSPB, and from 2012 she was its vice-president. In June 2016 she was elected its President. An important concern for them is the increasing violence against police officers. She calls for harsher penalties for the perpetrators and greater commitment from the Federal Council in the matter.

Bundi Ryser is married and has one son. In 2010 she was a candidate on the SVP's list for the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern .
