The Johannes-Bobrowski-Gesellschaft eV (JBG) is an international literary association that deals with the life and work of the writer Johannes Bobrowski . It is registered as a non-profit association and has its seat in Berlin.

History of the JBG

The Johannes Bobrowski Society was founded on December 9, 2000 in Berlin. The founding members included u. a. the publisher Klaus Wagenbach and the writer Ingo Schulze . The current chairman of the society is the dramaturge and publicist Prof. Klaus Völker , the board of directors includes six more people. The JBG has around 130 members worldwide (as of 2018) and is a member of the Working Group of Literary Societies and Memorials (ALG).

goals and tasks

The company is committed to the maintenance and dissemination of Johannes Bobrowski's work . In the self-presentation of the JBG it says:

“The society wants to preserve the memory of the German poet and narrator Johannes Bobrowski (Tilsit 1917 - Berlin 1965) and contribute to spreading his work and deepening its understanding. It is committed to the unifying intention of his writing and to the promotion of German literature of the fifties and sixties of the last century. "

The company organizes conferences, readings, lectures and other events.
