The Johannes-Heidenhain-Gymnasium (JHG) is a high school in Traunreut . It was attended by 543 students in the 2019/20 school year, and the teaching staff consisted of around 55 teachers.

Training directions

The grammar school has two directions, the linguistic branch (language sequence: English, Latin, French) and the scientific-technological branch (language sequence: English, then Latin or French, increased teaching in the natural sciences). In grade 10, Italian can be chosen as a foreign language that starts late.

particularities

The school promotes sport through an increased range of sport lessons and a wide range of options. With three sports halls, the indoor pool and the outdoor facilities in the immediate vicinity, lessons in numerous sports are possible. It is also a support school for tennis.

The school is a DELF specialty school and enables students to obtain an internationally recognized French certification (Diplôme d'Études en langue française). The CAE ( Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English ) can also be obtained.

The pupils of the fifth grade are looked after by tutors in order to facilitate their entry into the grammar school.

Awards

In 2014, the Johannes-Heidenhain-Gymnasium in Paderborn was awarded the Jugend forscht school prize for its outstanding commitment to the "Jugend forscht" competition. In addition to the number of projects submitted, the quality of the research projects and the long-term commitment were assessed.

Student exchange

A school exchange is organized with France (Thiaucourt - Regniéville, Lorraine region) and Italy (Castel Maggiore near Bologna).

Naming

Contact with industry exists in particular through Dr.-Johannes-Heidenhain-GmbH, whose company founder is the namesake of the school.
