Dalmore House is the name of a manor house in the Scottish city ​​of Helensburgh . The building is located in the southwest of the city. In 1993 the villa was included in the Scottish Monuments List in the highest category A.

history

Dalmore House was built for Robert Little in 1873 . As the architect, William Leiper , who also designed numerous other buildings in Helensburgh, was responsible for the planning. In the 1970s, the interior was redesigned into separate residential units by the architect Alan Berry . Dalmore House is modeled on Coll-Earn Castle in Auchterader , Perth and Kinross , which was also designed by Leiper. It itself served as a template for the Kinlochmoidart mansion planned by Leiper in 1884 . The West Lodge and Dalmore Lodge outbuildings are individually classified in monument category B.

The mansion is built on two floors and has a loft. It has architectural features of the Scottish Baronials , but there are also Renaissance elements from the 17th century. It consists of hewn red sandstone , from which the simple bezels around the windows and entrance doors are made. The gable roofs are covered with green slate shingles and have stepped gables . The corner towers at the back of the building end with conical roofs .
