Johannes Gregorius van den Bergh

Johannes Gregorius van den Bergh (abbreviated JG van den Bergh , born December 23, 1824 in Maastricht , † May 27, 1890 ibid) was a Dutch engineer and minister .

From 1846 van den Bergh was significantly involved in the construction of the Aachen – Maastricht and Hasselt – Maastricht railway lines . So he constructed the Maas Bridge, the first large railway bridge in the Netherlands .

After the completion of the railways on October 1st, JG van den Bergh became City Architect of Maastricht and in 1861 he joined the Dutch State Railways . From 1883 to 1887 he was Minister for Hydraulic Engineering, Trade and Industry.
