Giovanni I. Orsini

Giovanni I. Orsini († 1317 ) was Lord of Leukas (1295) and from 1304 until his death Count Palatine of Kefalonia . He was the son of Riccardo Orsini and a vassal of the Kingdom of Naples .

Giovanni I was married to Maria Angelina Komnenos Dukas (date of birth and death unknown), daughter of Nikephorus I of Epirus , since 1292 or 1294. They had the following offspring:

  • Nikelaos Orsini (1295–1323), Count Palatine of Kefalonia (since 1317), Prince of Epirus (since 1318)
  • Giovanni II. Orsini (around 1300–1335), Count Palatine of Kefalonia (1323–1324), Despot of Epirus (since 1318/1323)
  • Margherita Orsini († between 1331 and 1339), partial heir of Zakynthos, married Guglielmo Tocco († 1335) - mother of Leonardo I Tocco († 1376), Count Palatine of Kefalonia since 1357.
