Johannes Rimer

Johannes Rimer (* in the 14th century ; † May 16, 1427 ) was a priest in the then Bohemian town of Lauban in Upper Lusatia . When the Hussites conquered the place in May 1427, he was murdered along with about 1,000 other Catholics. Among the other victims of this massacre were many priests expelled from Bohemia and Catholic students who had fled from Prague , the majority of whom were of German nationality. Rimer is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church .
