Johannes Schnegg

Johannes Schnegg , also Hans Schnegg (* 1875 ; † 1950 ) was a German brewing scientist .

Life

Schnegg began his professional career in 1902 as a laboratory assistant at the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences . Just two years later he was entrusted with the management of the laboratory for microscopy and fermentation physiology. From 1913 to 1948 Schnegg taught in Weihenstephan as a professor. From 1933 to 1946 he was head of the brewing technology department at the university.

Schnegg did research on questions of yeast cultivation and hygiene in brewing; in particular for disinfection technology in breweries and methods for microbiological control of the spread of fungi. He was also the author of general books on fungi.

Schnegg was made an honorary citizen of the city of Freising for his services . In addition, a street was named after him in the northwestern part of the city.
