Johanneskirche

The church building on Schützenstrasse in Bad Tölz in Upper Bavaria , Johanneskirche since 2005 , is the city's oldest Protestant church. The building was designed by the Munich architect Martin Wintergerst and inaugurated on June 24, 1880. In 1896 the church was enlarged and a tower was added. After the establishment of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in 1922 and the establishment of a parish office, the architect Robert Kahl directed a further expansion in 1926. In 1970 the church was redesigned again by Franz Lichtblau and the ceiling was painted by Hubert Distler . The name Johanneskirche was introduced for the 125th anniversary of the church in 2005.

The altarpiece Crucifixion was created by Lovis Corinth in 1898 and came into the church in 1901 through a foundation by the Munich manufacturer Ernst Heckert .
