Location and description

The Johannesquelle lies at an altitude of 723  m above sea level. A. It is located between Gadenweither Klamm and Gahns Graben, west of the 873  m high Hinterberg, directly on a forest path in the Polzstatt area near the Übeltalwiese. The mountain water coming from the Schneeberg rises from the mountain and is led via a pipe into the approx. 2 × 0.5 m large spring basin, which is overgrown with moss . The source feeds a small stream that flows through the Gadenweither Klamm towards Sierning and dries up in dry summers.

The legend of the treasure

In the Gadenweith settlement belonging to the municipality of Ternitz , a legend is told that a poor farmer from Sieding robbed a noble family in St. Lorenzen. He hid the treasure he captured in the spring basin of this spring; he wanted to get it later, but unfortunately died shortly afterwards. The riddle of the treasure has remained unsolved to this day, and it is not known that it was ever found.
