Johannistor

The Johannistor is one of the Danziger water gates , as well as the Crane , Green Gate , Brotbänkentor , Frauentor , Häkertor , Kuhtor and some lost city gates. They are all on the banks of the Motława River .

The Johannistor is at the end of the Johannisgasse. It was built in the late 14th century and was rebuilt in the 19th century, giving it a classicist facade. It was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in 1976–1979.

The Johannistor houses the headquarters of the Gdańsk Department of the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Building Technicians PZITB. The first Polish merchant ship "Sołdek" built after 1945 is anchored directly opposite.
