The John's Lane Church ( Irish Eaglais Lána Eoin ) - actually, Saint Augustine and John the Baptist Church (Irish Eaglais San Agaistín agus Eoin Bhaiste ) - is a Catholic church in the Irish capital Dublin .

history

The construction of the neo-Gothic church was decided in 1860, and construction work began in the Easter season of 1862. Edward Welby Pugin and George C. Ashlin acted as architects . The church was consecrated in 1874. Because of the problems with the authorities, it would be 33 years before the exterior of the church could finally be completed in 1895. Construction work inside the church was not finished until 1911.

The church is consecrated to St. John the Baptist and St. Augustine of Hippo . The steeple is the tallest in Dublin at 61 meters. Popularly the church is called "John's Lane Church" only after the street it is on.
