Live and act

John Boulting, twin brother of Roy Boulting , had a close collaboration with him that lasted over three decades. Together the brothers founded a production company in 1937 that initially made shorter films. After the Second World War, alternating collaborations (usually one of the two was responsible for the production, the other for the direction) resulted in films of very different content, with film comedies becoming more prominent over the years. Boulting co-wrote the scripts of a number of films.

For the screenplay for the 1959 film Young Man from a Good House , Boulting was awarded the BAFTA in the category Best British Screenplay the following year . He was nominated for this award in 1957.

In 1950 he and his brother were nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for the film A City Holds Its Breath .
