John Bruce Waterhouse

John Bruce Waterhouse (born April 5, 1932 ) is an Australian geologist and paleontologist . In 1974 he became Professor of Paleontology and Stratigraphy at the University of Queensland ( Dorothy Hill Professor ).

Waterhouse received his PhD from Cambridge. He dealt with marine faunas (such as brachiopods ) of the Permian (geology) and stratigraphy of the Permian, where he introduced the Guadalupian and Cisuralium in 1982, among others .
