John Eccles, 2nd Viscount Eccles

John Dawson Eccles, 2nd Viscount Eccles CBE (born April 20, 1931 ) is a British peer and businessman. He is one of the 92 hereditary members of the House of Lords .

life and career

The son of David Eccles, 1st Viscount Eccles and Sybil Dawson studied at Winchester College and Magdalen College , Oxford , where he graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy, politics and economics. He completed his military service with the 1st Battalion (60th Rifles), King's Royal Rifle Corps and left as 2nd Lieutenant .

In 1985 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire and in 1999 he inherited his father's title. Lord Eccles moved into the House of Lords ; however, he had to leave it again in the same year because of the House of Lords Act 1999 . He was later elected to the House of Lords as one of the 92 remaining hereditary lords, and moved in again in 2005.

Lord Eccles married Diana Catherine Sturge on January 29, 1955 . You have four children.

Viscountess Eccles was raised to Life Peer as Baroness Eccles of Moulton in 1990 and is therefore also part of the House of Lords. You and your spouse are one of the few couples who both have titles of nobility in their own right.
