John Ford's Point , better known as John Ford Point , is a rocky outcrop in Monument Valley .

Monument Valley is located on the border between the US states of Utah and Arizona . Hollywood director John Ford preferred to shoot his western films there, such as Ringo (1939) and The Black Hawk (1956) with John Wayne , and used this rock as a location. He made a total of nine films in Monument Valley.
