John Kingston James

Sir John Kingston James, 1st Baronet (born April 28, 1784 , † January 28, 1869 ) was Councilor of Dublin and as such twice Lord Mayor of the city.

John Kingston James was born in 1784 to Francis James. Like his father, he also worked as a trader. On April 13, 1812, he married the eldest daughter of John Cash , a Dublin councilor. In 1812 he was High Sheriff of Dublin . Five years later, on June 25, 1817, James was elected Councilor of Dublin. As such, he held the post of Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1821 to 1822 and again from 1840 to 1841. In addition, James held the office of treasurer of the Dublin Corporation from 1828 to 1841 .

In 1821 he was knighted ( Knight Bachelor ) and finally in 1823 Baronet , of Dublin, raised.

When he died in 1869, his son John Kingston James (1815-1893) inherited him as 2nd baronet.
