John Llewellyn Rhys

John Llewellyn Rhys (* in the 20th century ; † 5. August 1940 ) was a British bomber pilot of the Royal Air Force and writers , the 1942 posthumously the Hawthornden Prize was awarded his widow and the prestigious John Llewellyn Rhys Prize donated.

Life

John Llewellyn Rhys was killed in an aerial battle as a Royal Air Force bomber pilot in 1940 and was previously a writer. In 1942 he was posthumously honored with the Hawthornden Prize for his book England is My Village .

Also in 1942, his widow Jane Oliver donated the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize, with which the best English-language work (fiction, non-fiction, poetry or drama) by an author under 35 from the United Kingdom or the Commonwealth was awarded annually until 2010 ; since 2011 the price has been suspended due to financing problems.
