John Oster (born December 8, 1978 in Boston , England ) is a former Welsh football player .

Career

The offensive all-rounder began his career at Grimsby Town in 1994. In 1997 he moved to Everton , where he was under contract for two years. In 1999 he went to Sunderland AFC , which he left in 2001 on loan to Barnsley for the first time. From 2001 to 2002 Oster was again under contract with his sponsor Sunderland before he switched again on loan for the seasons 2002/2003 and 2003/2004. The way went towards Grimsby Town. In 2004/2005 the Welshman was again on loan to Leeds United . Oster fell there through a nightclub visit that ended in a brawl. He was then temporarily arrested by the police. Leeds and his employer Sunderland separated from him immediately. After an interlude at Burnley FC , he is now playing for Reading FC .

Oster has played 13 times for the Welsh national soccer team .
