John Winsch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John O. Winsch of Stapleton, New York was an American publisher of postcards in the premium segment.

The publisher evidently did not publish any city, town or landscape views, but only greeting cards and artist cards . The most famous designs come from Samuel L. Schmucker, which are now coveted collectibles, cards from other artists are also popular with collectors. Further designs came from the artists Charles Levi, Fred Kolb, Helen P. Strong, Kathryn Elliott and Jason Freixas. The first postcards appeared in 1910 and by 1915 Winsch had 3,000 postcards from various artists. 1915 was also the end of the publishing house. He had his cards printed in Germany, probably because printing technology was leading there at the time.
