John McGill "Johnnie" Bone (born August 2, 1881 in Muirkirk , † 1962 ) was a Scottish football player .

Career

Bone played until the summer of 1901 in the Lanarkshire Football Junior Alliance at the Scottish club Haywood Wanderers , which was known not only for its home strength, but also for its tough style of play. For the 1901/02 season Bone was signed by the English first division club Everton ; he was next to Jack Bell , Wilf Toman , Peter Paterson and Sandy Young one of five newcomers to the storm series. During the season, Bone came to only two appearances - both defeats - on the left half-forward position when Everton finished second behind the Sunderland AFC Championship. Most of the season, the position was occupied by England international Jimmy Settle , who was top scorer with 18 goals this season, Bone was mostly limited to appearances in the reserve team.

In November 1902 he represented Lanarkshire in a game against the Kirkcaldy Amateurs.
